Joy was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. At the age of 17, she ventured off to college in Denver, CO. She obtained her Associates in Hotel Management in 2005 from Johnson & Wales University in Denver. She moved back to Arizona and continued her education at Northern Arizona University. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management in 2006. Upon graduating, she moved to Santa Barbara, CA for a Manager in Training position with Four Seasons Resorts. After on year in California, her career took her back to Arizona. She worked for the #1 Destination Spa in the World, Mii amo Spa at Enchantment Resort in Sedona for 4 years. In 2014, Joy left beautiful Sedona to go back to school to become a Teacher. Since then, she has obtained her Masters in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and her Masters in Gifted Education from Grand Canyon University. She currently resides in Phoenix, AZ and is the Gifted Specialist at Paseo Hills Elementary School in Phoenix, AZ.

Brett was born and raised in Mesa, AZ. After graduating high school, Brett was excited to attend an out-of-state university. He attended the University of Colorado from 2001-2005 where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engienering with an Emphasis on Electrial Systems. Brett started his career at SmithGroup in Phoenix, AZ and purchased a house in 2008 in Gilbert, AZ. Brett was fortunate to have continuous employment through the 2008 - 2012 resession. During this time, Brett had a variety of failed relationships while working on improving himself. In 2012 Brett switched positions and started with Henderson Engineers where he built his knowledge and skills. Through this time, Brett was in a serious 4-year relationship with a woman he proposed to. Though sometimes positive, the relationship was challenging; the engagement ended in October 2017 due to extenuating circumstances. Brett started dating again in early December and was messaged online by Joy in June 2018.
